In a Nuttshell…

I am so excited to see this project come together. Once again, the very generous Jay Nutt and Jennifer MacKenzie have lent the walls of their beautiful cafe, and allowed me to share some of my work, on canvas. This time I wanted to share something a little different for me…local images that don’t include people. I wanted to make this collection a little more unique by including images taken by iphone. I don’t carry my gear everywhere with me (contrary to what many may think, I actually rarely have my ‘gear’ on me if I don’t have a session), but what I do always have with me, like many of us now, is my phone camera, so I decided to include some of the images captured with my phone. I hope to add few more to the collection over the next few weeks.

I have to thank my generous Mother-in-Law and her husband for the gorgeous windows that the canvasses are hung on. I absolutely love the look of old windows, and use them in a variety of ways. Also, my husband, who spent the wee hours of the night hanging the collection. I couldn’t do it without him! And my hard working Co-op student, Hillary, who spent much of her time last week helping me get everything ready. And lastly, and mostly, Jay and Jen and the Nuttshell staff, for the opportunity and the space, and for supporting local artists. Our community is very blessed to have them both!

If you get the chance, stop by the Nuttshell cafe on Queen St. in Lakefield, grab an amazing lunch and coffee, and take a look around.
